Stephen Wood on His Avocation and Passion—Connecticut Museum Quest and All Things Connecticut

05/09/2014 - 7:00 pm
Community Room of the Canterbury, CT Town Hall
1 Municipal Drive - Canterbury, CT 06331

There will be a brief business session at 7:00 pm, followed by program & refreshments.

Stephen Wood is curious about, possibly more like obsessed with—in his own words—“pretty much everything in Connecticut: museums, trails, breweries, unique restaurants, animals, people, historical spots, etc.”

He’s on a mission to see every single oddity and general point of interest in Connecticut, and then seemingly to tell everybody it. His website is Connecticut Museum Quest, aka CTMQ, tagline “More Nutmeg Than You Can Handle.” Check it out ahead of his program with us, along with CTMQ on Facebook and Twitter.

He does all this just for fun and involves his family in the adventures.

Besides inspiring us to go off exploring the four corners of Connecticut, Steven promises to tailor his Canterbury program to include a Finnish-American Heritage Society open house, and what happened when he gave his boys “their famous pea soup. And the Yaworski truck museum in Canterbury too; because that story is just too rich.”

Our programs are free and the public is warmly invited. Bring a friend, stay for complimentary refreshments, and get to know us a little. We’re a pretty friendly crowd. The business session, which begins at 7:00, rarely lasts more than half an hour. If you want to skip it and just come for the program, plan to arrive about 7:30.

The Canterbury Historical Society’s regular monthly meetings are on the second Friday of the month, except for July and August, when we take a summer break. We are happy to send email announcements of meetings and events to nonmembers. If you do not receive notices and would like to be added to our list, please send a note, including your full name and the email address where you want to receive notices, to
