Thomas A. Fatone on the Signs of Connecticut

01/10/2014 - 7:00 pm
Community Room of the Canterbury, CT Town Hall
1 Municipal Drive - Canterbury, CT 06331

There will be a brief business session at 7:00 pm, followed by program & refreshments.

At our January meeting, Thomas A. Fatone will discuss his book, The Signs of Connecticut.

As a Nutmegger, you’re certainly familiar with the blue historical signs that dot the centers of Connecticut’s towns and cities, usually on the green. There are 169 of those signs highlighting local history, one for each town and city in the state, and Thomas A. Fatone is fascinated by them. Over a 13-year period, he photographed every one, and along the way he says, “met interesting people, discovered little-known facts, and saw things I never knew existed in Connecticut. This is a story about the town signs of Connecticut and the adventures I had while searching for them. Now sit back, enjoy, and learn about the signs of Connecticut.”

Our programs are free and the public is warmly invited. Bring a friend and stay for complimentary refreshments. We’re a pretty friendly crowd.

The Canterbury Historical Society’s regular monthly meetings are on the second Friday of the month, except for July and August, when we take a summer break. We are happy to send email announcements of meetings and events to nonmembers. If you do not receive notices and would like to be added to our list, please send a note, including your full name and the email address where you want to receive notices, to info@canterburyhistorical.org.
