Annual Old Home Day on Canterbury Green

This annual event sponsored by the Canterbury Historical Society somehow just keeps getting better every year.

Rain or shine. Mark the date. Bring the kids and dogs; tour the 19th century one-room Green District School lovingly restored by the Canterbury Historical Society; enjoy animals, an all-Canterbury district schools reunion, live music, great food, and children's activities; meet local artisans and farmers; get to know representatives of Canterbury's nonprofit, religious, cultural, and heritage organizations; buy an antique; sample wonderful local products and get acquainted with their producers; chat with historical reenactors; catch up with neighbors and make new friends.

Come hungry! Food will include home-baked goods, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, sodas, pie and ice cream, candy apples, popcorn, Finnish pulla bread, coffee, local fudge, goat cheese, seasonal produce, and more.

But wait, there's more fun to be had in Canterbury this same day!

FREE ADMISSION to the Prudence Crandall Museum all day long!

After a day of taking in the sights & sounds of Old Home Day on the Green, the Canterbury Lions sponsor a supper at the Canterbury Town Hall Municipal Room (One Municipal Drive). Dinner begins at 4:30PM. Adults $12, kids $6. More info: 546-9245.

As if that's not enough, you can bring this lovely day to a close by dancing the evening away at Canterbury's Finnish American Heritage Society Hall, (76 North Canterbury Road), with music by the Central Massachusetts Accordion Club. Dancing lessons are part of the evening, if you need them.
