Revolutionary Women: HER STORY

As we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States, we invite you to meet six Revolutionary War heroines including a soldier, a spy, and a seamstress.

To get a real sense of women’s lives and their war efforts, Bev York, Director of Programming for The America Museum, will walk the audience through the empowering evolution of women during the Revolution by wearing different hats, accessories, and various vintage props to bring these ladies to life.

Though women’s stories and their documented contributions to the war for independence are few, they represent what thousands of women probably did do. Women ran the family farms and businesses while men were away. But, they also were camp cooks, laundresses and nurses, participating in resistance efforts and, surprisingly, they were also spies and soldiers.

This free historical program is open to the public and will begin at 7:30 PM following our monthly business meeting which begins at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall Community Room. Please join us and bring a friend!
